Tomorrow Lviv Oblast will say goodbye to four Heroes

Tomorrow, June 20, Lviv Oblast will say goodbye to Mykhailo Lazarev, Igor Kryvokon, Yurii Sikyrynsky and Igor Gil, who gave their lives defending Ukraine from the Russian invaders. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral of Mykhailo Lazarev, Ihor Kryvokony and Yuriy Sikyrynskyi will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul in Lviv (11 Teatralna St.), at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square.

The funeral service of Igor Gil will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul in Lviv (11 Teatralna St.), at 2:30 p.m. – city farewell ceremony on Rynok Square.

Heroes will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 84 named after Blessed Yosafata Gordashevska. He was educated at the State Vocational and Technical Educational Institution “Lviv Vocational Polytechnic Lyceum” (then Vocational and Technical School No. 33 of the city of Lviv).

For 10 years he lived in the Kingdom of Spain, where he worked in the construction industry. Later, he returned to the Motherland and was the head of the local aircraft model club.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to defend the Motherland. Defended the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine in the ranks of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” regional administration of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Performed combat missions in Sumy region, Kharkiv region and Donetsk region.

Mykhailo Lazarev is survived by his mother, brother and son.

Igor Gil (November 27, 1989-June 13, 2023). A native of Lviv.

Studied at the Lviv Specialized School of the I-III degrees No. 15 with in-depth study of English and French of the Lviv City Council (today – Lyceum No. 15 of the Lviv City Council). He studied at the “Quality, standardization and certification” specialty at the Lviv Polytechnic National University.

Since 2012, he has been working by profession. In his spare time, he was engaged in computer programming, and was fond of studying physics.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he became a member of the 95th separate airborne assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in defense of the Motherland.

Igor Gil is survived by his parents, wife, daughter, godparents, nephews and godchildren.

Studied at secondary school No. 81 in Donetsk. After graduating from the 10th grade, he joined the military service in the ranks of border guards, which he completed in the Chernivtsi region.

After returning, he worked as a turner at the Private Joint-Stock Company “Rutchenkov Factory “Hormash”. He was an avid numismatist.

With the beginning of Russian aggression, Ihor Kryvokin and his family were forced to leave their hometown and move to the city of Pavlograd, Dnipropetrovsk region, where he worked at a local factory.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the 17th separate Kryvyi Rih tank brigade named after Kostyantyn Pestushka of the operational command “East” of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend the Motherland. He fought against the Russian invaders in the southern and eastern directions as a sniper of a mechanized battalion.

Igor Kryvokony is survived by his mother and brother.

Yurii Sikyrynskyi (February 3, 1971-June 14, 2023). A native of Lviv.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 53 of the city of Lviv (today – Prestige Lviv Gymnasium). He graduated from the history and law faculties of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

He took an active part in the events of the two Maidans, and with the beginning of the war in 2014 he traveled to the east of the country as a volunteer. He was an exceptionally versatile person: he practiced law while “living by the elements.” All his life he conquered the highest mountains, the thickest forests and the coldest rivers.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he volunteered to go to war. He defended the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine in Kharkiv Oblast and Donetsk Oblast in the ranks of the 125th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade of the “West” Regional Administration of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yuriy Sikyrynsky is survived by his wife, five children, mother and sister with their family.
