Tomorrow, the Lviv community will say goodbye to four defenders

On Tuesday, October 17, the Lviv community will say goodbye to four servicemen. Volodymyr Sklyar, Bohdan Misko, Volodymyr Zamkovy, Mykhailo Dzyoba died at the hands of the Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. The City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and to refrain from entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The funeral rites of Volodymyr Sklyar, Bohdan Miska, and Volodymyr Zamkovo will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of Sts. App. Peter and Paul, at 11:30 a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldiers will be buried at the Lychakiv cemetery.

Mykhailo Dzoba’s funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Bryukhovychy (Father Izdryka St., 6). The soldier will be buried at the local cemetery in Bryukhovychy.

Biographical references of defenders

 

Volodymyr Sklyar (May 3, 1982-October 13, 2023) from Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 77 of the city of Lviv with an in-depth study of economics and management. After obtaining a professional and technical education, he entered the National University “Lviv Polytechnic”.

For about 17 years, he worked at the Lviv branch of the State Enterprise of the Ukrainian State Institute for Road Construction Design “Ukrdiprodor”-“Zahiddiproshlyah”. He held the position of chief engineer of the institute. He was an extremely kind and versatile person: in his free time, he was fond of cinema, literature and cooking, and he was also a skillful craftsman.

With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the 214th separate special battalion OPFOR of the International Center for Peacekeeping and Security of the National Academy of Ground Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny to defend the Motherland from the Russian invaders. Performed combat missions in the eastern direction.

Volodymyr Sklyar is survived by his mother, wife, 10-year-old daughter, brother, nephews and a huge number of friends.

 

Bohdan Misko (August 6, 1986-October 10, 2023) from Lviv.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 97 of the city of Lviv. First, he graduated from the former Lviv College of Communication, later he obtained an education at the State University of Information and Communication Technologies.

After completing his studies, he worked at Nova Poshta Limited Liability Company, working his way up from courier to branch manager. In his spare time, he was fond of fishing.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to protect the Motherland from the invaders. He defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the eastern direction in the ranks of the 79th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Bohdan Miska is survived by his parents.

 

Volodymyr Zamkovy (May 15, 1983-October 11, 2023) from Lviv.

He studied at Secondary Secondary School of Grades I-III No. 55 of Lviv. After graduating from school, he received a vocational and technical education at a local school, later he entered the Automotive and Road Professional College of the Lviv Polytechnic National University. He served in the ranks of the Separate Presidential Regiment named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi.

In peacetime, he was engaged in private entrepreneurship, and also worked in the field of transportation. He was fond of fishing, motorcycles and cars.

From the first days of the full-scale invasion, he went to war as a volunteer. Performed combat tasks for the defense of the state in the eastern direction as part of the 125th separate territorial defense brigade of the “West” regional administration of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During his service, Volodymyr Zamkov was awarded the rank of “sergeant”.

The Hero is survived by his grandmother, mother, two daughters, a brother, his girlfriend and a large family.

 

Mykhailo Dzyoba (November 21, 1980-October 10, 2023) was born in Bryukhovychy.

Studied at Secondary Secondary School No. 41 in the city of Lviv. Received higher education at the Faculty of Economics of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv. After completing his studies, he served in the tank troops in the former Artemivsk (today Bakhmut, Donetsk region).

During the last 15 years, he lived in the city of Kyiv, engaged in the manufacture of granite products. He was a faithful parishioner of the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ UGCC. According to relatives, Mykhailo Dzyoba had an extremely big heart, “he was modest, but always cheerful and ready to help.”

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he was part of the guard of the Patriarchal Cathedral. Subsequently, he joined the ranks of the 79th separate airborne assault brigade of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and defended the state on the eastern front. In May 2023, he was seriously wounded, but after treatment he immediately returned to the front line. For personal bravery, he was awarded the “Blood for Ukraine” badge, and when performing combat tasks, he was distinguished by exceptional endurance.

Mykhailo Dzoba is survived by two sisters, six nephews and cousins.
