A citizen of Ukraine was found guilty of a public accusation by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office. He was convicted of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed groups not provided for by law (parts 1, 2 of article 111, part 1 of article 258-3, part 2 of article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The man was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
Prosecutors proved in court that in February 2022, a resident of Luhansk Region voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy and joined the illegal armed formation of the “People’s Militia” of the LNR terrorist organization.
The man received a military uniform, weapons and was enrolled in the rifle regiment as a rifleman.
The accused also ensured the security of the locations of the armed forces of the Russian Federation and the terrorist organization “LNR” in the settlements of Luhansk and Donetsk regions.
The criminal activity was stopped in July 2023, in connection with the capture in the Bakhmut district.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.
