On the payment of one-time monetary assistance to war invalids, combatants, and war participants

On May 7, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine adopted Resolution No. 540 “On some issues of the payment of one-time financial assistance provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On the Status of War Veterans, Guarantees of Their Social Protection” and “On Victims of Nazi Persecution”. As Svitlana Sidelnyk, head of Citizen Service Department No. 5 of Chervonograd (service center) of the State Pension Fund of Ukraine, reported, such one-time payments were made every year until May 5. In particular, to such categories of citizens as war disabled, combatants, war participants, families of deceased (killed) combatants and others.

Until 2022, these payments were made by the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population. This year, together with the June pension, a one-time May payment was made. For example, if a person has the status of a participant in hostilities, in June his pension was higher by UAH 1,491. Participants in the war, persons who were forcibly deported to forced labor received a pension higher by 612 hryvnias.

Therefore, citizens turn to the local branch of the Pension Fund with the question: “Why are pensions lower in July than in June?”. As Svitlana Sydelnyk pointed out, these were one-time payments provided for by the government decree, and they will no longer be available in July. Accordingly, citizens do not need to contact the service center to clarify the amount of pensions. All payments are made in accordance with current legislation.
