In Lviv, a 38-year-old man tried to steal money from an ATM

The law enforcement officers remind once again that in the conditions of martial law, the maximum punishments are provided for committing theft, robbery, robbery, extortion, as well as for misappropriation, waste of property or possession of it by abuse of official position.

On April 9, around one in the morning, the police received a report that an unknown man was trying to break into an ATM and steal money from it on Shevchenko Street in Lviv.

The investigative and operative group of police department No. 1 of the Lviv district police department No. 1, operatives of the criminal investigation and employees of other police services of the Lviv region went to the scene of the incident. Employees of the Department of Criminal Analysis of the Police of Lviv Oblast were also involved in the search for the perpetrator.

Through the conducted measures, after studying the recordings of video surveillance cameras of the “Safe Lviv Region” system, the law enforcement officers established the location of the fugitive and detained him in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Physical evidence of involvement in the commission of the crime was seized from him.

The detainee was identified as a 38-year-old resident of Lviv who had previously been held criminally liable. Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Galicia District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 15 – Part 4 of Article 185 (Attempt to commit theft) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to eight years.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
