On December 14 at 8:27 p.m., a fire broke out in the basement of a three-story residential building on Knyaz Svyatoslav Square in Lviv. The incident was reported to the Rescue Service “101.”
Firefighting Efforts
Rescuers from the 1st State Fire and Rescue Unit of Lviv quickly arrived at the scene. Upon arrival, thick black smoke was pouring out of the basement.
Due to heavy smoke, firefighters used special breathing and vision protection equipment. The fire was localized at 8:43 p.m. and completely extinguished by 8:44 p.m., destroying household items over an area of 2 square meters.
Cause of the Fire
Preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was caused by the explosion of a lithium battery, which led to subsequent ignition.

The firefighting operation involved 8 rescuers and 2 specialized vehicles.
