On 7 September 2024, Bill No. 11391, signed by the President of Ukraine, came into force. The new law amended the Law of Ukraine “On Mobilisation Preparation and Mobilisation”, in particular the third, fourth and fifth paragraphs of part three of Article 23.
The Department for Mobilisation, Defence and Cooperation with Law Enforcement informs about the changes.
The adopted document expands the circle of persons liable for military service whose close relatives, including a sibling (full or half), were killed or went missing while participating in hostilities, for the purpose of granting a deferral from military service during mobilisation.
As a reminder, half-siblings are brothers and sisters who share only one parent – mother or father.
The Verkhovna Rada supported the above draft law on 21 August this year.
