In view of the war with Russia, the decision of the Council of Bishops of Lviv determined that no night services will be held on Easter. All services are planned in advance, appropriate schedules are drawn up, which were announced to church members last Sunday. Therefore, residents and guests of the city are asked to be understanding of the decision and, above all, to take care of their safety, because there is nothing sacred for the enemy.
“Despite the fact that the decision of the Lviv Regional Military Administration abolished the curfew on Easter night, there will be no changes in the schedule of festive services in the temples of Lviv. All services are planned in advance, the appropriate schedules are made, which were announced to the people last Sunday. The Lviv City Council also discussed this decision with the local bishops, and the Bishops supported this decision. The main reason is the safety of Lviv residents. We have finally understood during these two months of terrible war that there is nothing sacred for the enemy, so we can expect from them any meanness, even on the greatest Christian holiday. Therefore, we call on the people of Lviv to be vigilant, keep calm and pray for our quick victory, “said Yevhen Boyko, director of the Mayor’s Administration Department.
“All the schedules of Easter services were formed before Palm Sunday. Therefore, since they were formed, so they will be accomplished. The time of night, unfortunately, is favorable for the enemy. In the morning, in the afternoon, when there is sun, we have more opportunities to protect the faithful. In the morning it is easier to hide – to go to the shelter. Therefore, we encourage people to come to worship in daylight. Light always conquers darkness. Sunday will win the resurrection. Resurrection is light, it is joy, it is victory. And we will definitely win. And we will celebrate Easter as planned, “said Kyprian Lozynskyi, abbot of the PCU.
Abbot Cyprian also recommended participating in online services.
