Lviv marked the 85th anniversary of the Stanislav Lyudkevych Music College with a grand celebration held at the Myroslav Skoryk Lviv National Philharmonic.
The event honored the college’s teachers, students, and leaders of its artistic ensembles.
The college, a key institution for musical arts education in the region, currently trains 308 students in the following specializations:
- piano;
- orchestral string instruments;
- folk instruments;
- orchestral wind and percussion instruments;
- choral conducting;
- vocal performance;
- music theory;
- pop music arts.
During the event, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration Ivan Sobko awarded honorary certificates and commendations to the college’s outstanding faculty and leaders, including:
- Nadiya Povoroznyk – choir conducting teacher and head of the student choir “Divochi Mrii”;
- Andriy Okhrim – college director and honored cultural worker of Ukraine;
- Ella Voytynska – orchestral strings teacher and department head;
- Volodymyr Hnid – deputy director for student affairs and choir conducting methodology teacher;
- Mariya Nakonechna – head of the folk instruments department and honored cultural worker of Ukraine;
- Bohdan Kosopud – head of the vocal department and honored artist of Ukraine.
In his speech, Ivan Sobko emphasized:
“For decades, your college has been a center of creativity, professionalism, and inspiration for many generations. Here, future musicians, composers, and educators are nurtured, who bring joy to the world and glorify our country through their art. I wish the college continued success, new achievements, and for its students and teachers to reach great creative heights.”
The college is renowned for its eight artistic ensembles, which include:
- the student choir “Divochi Mrii”;
- the mixed choir “Lyudkevych Choir”;
- a bandura ensemble;
- a chamber orchestra;
- a symphony orchestra;
- a folk instruments orchestra;
- a wind orchestra;
- a jazz orchestra “Lyudkevych Jazz Orchestra.”
Graduates of the college perform in prestigious symphony orchestras and opera houses worldwide, earning recognition at international competitions.
In 2023, the college received funding through regional development programs:
- 785,000 UAH – for upgrading fire alarm and evacuation systems;
- 700,000 UAH – for purchasing musical instruments, including a MAJESTIC marimba, bassoon, Yamaha baritone saxophone, viola, clarinet, drum set, classical guitar, and synthesizer.
The Stanislav Lyudkevych Music College continues to uphold high standards in training young musicians and contributing to the cultural life of Lviv and beyond.
