One of the founders of Sokal football, Yaron Tsymborskyi, passed away as a result of the disease

THE CORYPHAEUS OF FOOTBALL IN THE MINER’S REGION HAS PASSED AWAY…

A severe and insidious illness took away from us Yaron Ivanovych Tsymborskyi.

(25.06.1947 – 16.11.2024) – a talented football player and coach of the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s (teams “Vuhlyk” and “Shakhtar”, Chervonohrad; “Khimik”, Sokal).

Yaron Tsymborsky (25.06.1947 – 16.11.2024) – a talented football player and coach from Sokal

I remember well the 70s, when the glory of Sokal “Khimik” was spreading all over Lviv region, coached by a young and talented countryman Yaron Tsymborskyi. My father, my older brother and I never missed a single home match of our beloved “Khimik”, the stands of the stadium of the same name were filled to capacity… Those were golden times… It was such sports coryphaei as Yaron Ivanovych who, by their living example, instilled in children and young people a love of sports,” said Oleh Kozhushko, a deputy of the Sokal City Council.

The Sokal team “Khimik” under the leadership of Yaron Tsymborsky has repeatedly become a prize-winner and champion of Lviv region in football. Yaron Ivanovych brought up a whole galaxy of talented footballers, in particular, he was the first coach of our champion (with Dnipro) Andrii Dilai.

I cannot but mention Yaron Ivanovych as a true citizen and a fighter for justice. We were together at the All-Ukrainian protest “Ukraine without Kuchma!” in 2002 in Kyiv.

Yaron Tsymborsky was elected as a deputy of the Sokal City Council from the Batkivshchyna party (2006-2010). He has always been an example of honesty and integrity, and enjoyed great authority among the citizens of Sokal and Chervonohrad.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank his childhood friend and lifelong footballer friend Yaroslav Pidkipnyak for publishing the book “Football of Sokal Region”, thanks to which we took the photo of Yaron Ivanovych (below).

The deceased will find his final resting place at the old Sokal cemetery (near the grave of his parents and brother).
