Italian benefactors donate winter wheat seeds to farmers in Lviv region

The distribution of seeds for small producers took place as part of the Bread for Peace in Ukraine project.

As part of the Bread for Peace in Ukraine project, 64 family farms in the Lviv region received humanitarian aid in the form of winter wheat seeds. It was donated by an Italian cooperative with which our region already has successful cooperation.

This project is being implemented by the Lviv Chamber of Agriculture with the support of the Italian social cooperative Pausa Café in cooperation with the Department of Agricultural Development of the Lviv Regional State Administration.

Its goal is to support small farmers engaged in livestock, grain and vegetable production. The idea is to bake bread from Ukrainian flour in Italy, sell it, and invest the proceeds in the purchase of seeds from agricultural producers in Lviv region.

The project has been implemented since 2022. During 2022-2023, 152 small farms received assistance under the Bread for Peace in Ukraine project. At the same time, the project also has a social component. For example, last year, in cooperation with farmers in the Lviv region, Italian philanthropists personally delivered food packages to 50 IDPs.

“Such support is an important step for the development of small agricultural enterprises, which play a key role in ensuring food security and economic stability in the region. Supporting small producers is an investment in the future of our country. These seeds enable family farms to increase their harvests, improve their efficiency and make a significant contribution to the food security of the region,” said Yuriy Buchko, Deputy Head of Lviv Regional State Administration.
