The spring sowing campaign of 2022 is coming to an end in Lviv region. This was reported in the Department of Agricultural Development of the Lviv Regional Military Administration
As of May 30, 2022, farms of all categories sowed all spring crops on the area of 416.7 thousand hectares (94.6% of the forecast), of which 224.9 thousand hectares (90.4% of the forecast) in agricultural enterprises.
According to agronomic terms, field work continues on crops of late spring crops. Thus, in agricultural enterprises under late crops this year the areas of buckwheat increased by 10.5%, soybeans by 9.2%, corn by 1.8%, vegetables by 25.4%. In particular, corn and soybeans have already been sown on 85.0% of the projected areas, respectively 72.0 and 78.8 thousand hectares. 97% of the forecast was planted with sunflowers and vegetables on the areas of 32.6 and 2.0 thousand hectares. And the final crop in the agronomic sowing calendar is buckwheat, which has already sown 2.3 thousand hectares in agricultural enterprises (69.9% of the forecast).
“The start of spring sowing in 2022 was extremely difficult, but despite the material and resource difficulties, the region’s farmers are investing in agronomic sowing dates. We hope that the forecasts on crop yields and harvest dates will be comforting, ”commented Tetiana Hetman, Director of the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
We will remind that in the beginning of May agrarians of area finished sowing of early grain and leguminous crops, and by the middle of May – sugar beet and potatoes.
