The annual volume of milk production in the Lviv region is almost 500 thousand tons

On the first day of summer, in addition to Children’s Day, also celebrate World Milk Day. This holiday was launched in 2001 at the suggestion of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

The purpose of the holiday is to promote milk and dairy products among people, as well as to inform the public about activities related to milk and dairy production.

As for the Lviv region, the annual volume of milk production in the Lviv region is almost 500 thousand tons.

“More than 90% of the annual volume of milk is provided by personal farms that have been producing milk all their lives. We are trying to create the conditions for this important business to become a business that can be inherited. This year, all farms in the Lviv region that are officially operating have the opportunity to receive subsidies for cows, “commented Tetyana Hetman, director of the department of agro-industrial development of the regional state administration.

According to the department, the number of cows in the region and in Ukraine as a whole is decreasing every year, and milk production is decreasing accordingly. Therefore, the development of dairy farming today is a priority, and for its implementation Lviv region has introduced a separate instrument of financial support at the regional level for local livestock – subsidies for existing cows.
