Attempt to Illegally Exit Through Fake Marriage Stopped at the Border
At the checkpoint \”Krakivets\”, border guards of the 7th Carpathian border unit, together with unit operatives, stopped an attempt of a \”marriage maneuver\”. This time, it was a mock couple from Zhytomyr.
Incident Details
A 20-year-old guy and a 24-year-old girl with a second group disability were heading to Germany, supposedly for a medical examination. But the version of the \”caring husband\” quickly fell apart during the check.
It turned out that the marriage was arranged with one goal in mind – to get the man abroad. The girl agreed to the deal and in return received monthly transfers to her card. The \”marital bonus\” amount was not discussed; they worked on the principle \”give what you don’t mind giving\”. Notably, the guy has a real girlfriend, but his wife exists only on paper.
Legal Consequences
The border guards sent a report indicating signs of a criminal offense under Article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine.
