On behalf of the city community, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi awarded Lviv fencer Anna Maksymenko with a gratitude and a prize of UAH 112,000.

Over the past few months, 16-year-old Lviv athlete Anna Maksymenko has won two important titles at once: European cadet and junior champion and world cadet and junior champion.

“We would like to thank you today on behalf of the Lviv community for your hard work and tireless daily efforts to promote the sporting image of the state. We are proud of you and wish you even more conquests,” said Andriy Sadovyi.

In his turn, Anton Nikulin, Head of the Department of Sports and Youth Policy of Lviv, emphasized that Anna is a new sports star of our city, who, with such a rapid rise, has every chance to bring an Olympic medal to Lviv in a few years. Lviv has not had a world champion in fencing for a long time.
