Ukrainian Wrestlers Win Medals at International Tournament in Albania
The ranking competition MUHAMET MALO in three types of wrestling took place in Albania.
Ukrainian Women’s Team Won Six Awards
The Ukrainian women’s team won six awards and took second place in the team standings. Two medals were secured by representatives from Lviv region:
- Alla Belinska – \”silver\” in the 72 kg weight category. Here the competition followed a round-robin system. On her way to the medal, Alla lost to Kazakhstan’s representative Jamilya Bakbergenova but defeated opponents from Argentina, Linda Machuka, and the USA, Alexandria Glaude;
- Oleksandra Khomenets – \”bronze\” in the 55 kg weight category. The Ukrainian won against Bulgaria’s Irena Binkova in the quarterfinals. In the semi-finals, she lost to Japan’s Haruno Okuno but earned a chance to compete for bronze. In the match for third place, the wrestler from Truskavets defeated Karla Gonzalez from Canada.
\”Overall, the competition gathered 379 athletes from 29 countries around the world. It was an important stage for wrestlers ahead of the European Championship,\” recalls Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Alla Belinska is a master of sports of Ukraine of international class, representing the Lviv Regional \”School of Higher Sport Mastery.\” She is coached by Ihor Dukh.
Oleksandra Khomenets is a master of sports of Ukraine of international class, a graduate of the Lviv Specialized College of Sports. She is coached by Orest Skobelsky and Andriy Byrka.
