The Youth and Sports Department of LOVA purchased four new bicycles for sports schools, where the cyclists of the national team of the Lviv region, which represents the region at national competitions, train.
The purchase was implemented within the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports.
“The youth and sports management team of the Lviv OVA continues the previously initiated initiatives for the development of sports in the region even in the most difficult times. In addition to ensuring the activities of municipal institutions and national sports teams of the Lviv region, these are quarterly monetary rewards for athletes and coaches, the construction of new and restoration of existing sports infrastructure, the holding of sports and image events in the format of public-private partnership, a special priority today is the development of veteran sports, in particular, sports rehabilitation camps and much more. Our task is to create conditions under which everyone will be able to realize their potential as much as possible, despite all the difficulties,” emphasized the head of the youth and sports department of Lviv OVA Roman Khimyak.
The administration notes that cycling is one of the priority sports in the Lviv region, because it was our Olena Starikova who won the silver medal of the 2020 Olympic Games. Therefore, in order to support the young generation of athletes, the material and technical base of the national team of the Lviv region was significantly improved by purchasing modern bicycles:

“These four modern bicycles are significantly better conditions for the best cyclists of the Lviv region, who have already done a lot of work on themselves, have the ambition and potential to become European champions and ambassadors of our country at the international level. And we will do everything to make the path to the top easier for them and thousands of other motivated athletes from Lviv region,” explains Roman Khimyak.
We will remind you that the 16-year-old promising athlete Daniil Yakovlev also performs for the national team of the Lviv region. This year he won two medals at the World Junior Track Cycling Championships and a medal at the European Championships. Karolina Kelyukh, who this year entered the top ten at the European Championship, is also training in the Lviv region.
Also, Lviv Oblast is a key region in holding road national competitions. It is on the roads of the region that the main amateur and professional cycling races take place. In 2022, the international road cycling race Tour de Lviv Region was supposed to take place in the Lviv region, but due to the full-scale invasion, it was postponed.
