Ksenia Panteleieva, a fencer from Lviv region, won a bronze medal at an international tournament in Croatia

This is the third medal for Ksenia Panteleeva at the international Satellite fencing tournament.

On 12-13 October, the Satellite FIE “St Duje’s Cup” women’s epee fencing competition was held in Split (Croatia).

Kseniia Panteleieva, an athlete from Lviv region, took third place, and her colleague Anna Maksymenko finished the competition in sixth position.

Ksenia had a good start to the tournament, winning four out of five fights in the group stage, losing only to Ukrainian Sofia Sidenko. In the subsequent rounds of direct elimination, she defeated four rivals, including the Olympic and world champion Yulia Belyaeva of Estonia (15:12) in the 1/8 finals. In the quarter-finals, the ward of Andriy Orlikovsky and Zoryana Semeryak defeated Ukrainian Yulia Mukoid (15:3). However, in the semi-finals, Ksenia was stopped by the winner of two Olympic medals at Tokyo 2020, Estonian Katrina Lehis (11:15).

By the way, Anna Maksymenko also lost to Katrina Lehis in the quarterfinals with a score of 13:15.

“We congratulate the athletes and their coaches on their achievements. This is Kseniia Panteleieva’s third medal at international tournaments of the Satellite series,” commented Roman Khimyak, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
