16-year-old Lviv fencer Anna Maksymenko is a world champion in cadet and junior fencing.
In the final of the cadet tournament, the Ukrainian defeated Sharika Gajala of the United States with a score of 15:13 to win her debut gold medal at this level.
“Congratulations to Anna, as well as to her mentors Zoryana Semeryak and Andriy Orlikovsky on their super-successful performance in Riyadh,” the Sports Department said.
