Lviv girls win archery competition in Slovenia

Ukrainian archers won the prestigious Veronika Kap international ranking archery competition held in Kamnik, Slovenia.

Lviv’s Veronika Marchenko (NSS LvS / AFU / SHVSM, coached by Maria Havelko) and Dzvenyslava Chernyk (KDYUSSH No. 1, coached by Nazar Kuzyk / Maria Havelko), together with Olga Chebotarenko (Chernivtsi), won the women’s team competition. The girls also set a new record for Ukraine in the qualification, which had been held since 2004.

The Ukrainian national team also has a silver medal for the men’s team, who lost only in a shootout to the Great Britain team, and a gold medal for Artem Ovchinnikov from Sumy.

“As a result, the national team of Ukraine topped the medal standings among 98 teams from countries and clubs that took part in the competition. In total, the sporting event brought together 335 athletes,” said Roman Khimyak, Head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
