MMA Tournament in Lviv Region to Honor Andriy Harasym

On December 14, a national mixed martial arts (MMA) tournament will take place in Lviv at the “Hratsiya” sports complex (36 Shchyretska Street). Athletes of various age categories, including children, youth, juniors, and young adults, will compete. Approximately 40 sports clubs from across Ukraine, bringing together over 200 participants, are expected to join the event.

The tournament is dedicated to commemorating Andriy Harasym, a junior sergeant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who heroically gave his life defending the country’s independence.

All funds raised from the participants’ entry fees will be directed to support Andriy’s fellow soldiers who continue fighting for Ukraine’s freedom.

Andriy Harasym, known by the call sign “Petrov,” volunteered to defend Ukraine from the onset of the full-scale invasion. Serving in the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, he distinguished himself as a brave and skilled warrior. His service was recognized with several state honors, including the “Golden Cross” from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the “Cross of Courage,” the “For Valor” badge, and the “Order of Courage.”

Tragically, Andriy was killed on August 21, 2023, during an assault on enemy positions near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. He was laid to rest in his home village of Ralivka in the Sambir District. He was only 22 years old at the time of his death.
