Licence for the Olympic Games and medals: the Ukrainian road cycling championship took place in Lviv region
The competitions took place from 18 to 23 June in the village of Zvenyhorod and its surroundings. The fastest were determined among juniors, young people under 23 and adults.
170 participants from Lviv, Zhytomyr, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytsky, Kyiv, Mykolaiv, Kirovohrad, Donetsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, Volyn, Rivne, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Luhansk, Ternopil, Odesa regions and Kyiv competed for the awards.

Individual time trial, 29 km (women):
1st place – Yulia Biryukova
Individual time trial, 29 km (men):
2nd place – Daniil Yakovlev
Individual group race, 130 km (juniors):
2nd place – Maxim Shcherbatsky
Individual group race, 185 km (men):
3rd place – Daniil Yakovlev
According to the selection system, Ukrainian champion Yulia Biryukova won the right to represent Ukraine at the Olympic Games in Paris. This will be the first Olympics in her career.
“Yulia Biriukova is a representative of the Lviv Regional School of Higher Sportsmanship and a servicewoman at the Defence Ministry’s Training and Sports Base. Yulia has also been studying at the Lviv Professional College of Sports since the eighth grade. The cyclist is coached by Orest Tychko, Valeriy Romanenkov and Dmytro Kryvtsov,” said Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
