On the eve of the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, who died for the independence and freedom of our country, in various regions, including in the Lviv region, a patriotic race “I honor the soldiers, I run for the heroes of Ukraine” will be held.
The race is scheduled for this Saturday, August 26. Start at 09:45. Participants will cover selected distances in Stryi Park, near the entrance to the regional children’s and youth sports school.
In Lviv Oblast, the event is coordinated by the Lviv Regional Center for Physical Health of the Population “Sports for All” and the Department of Youth and Sports of Lviv Oblast.
“Previously, the participants had not only starting numbers, but also specific names of fallen soldiers, in whose memory they cover distances. Now we have many times more Heroes, so the participants will only have starting numbers and will run distances in memory of everyone, thanks to whom we have the opportunity to live and preserve traditions, including sports and memorial ones”, – explained the head of the youth and sports department of the Lviv OVA Roman Khim ‘as.
Such an annual race provides an opportunity to honor those who died defending the independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as to show gratitude to the relatives of the dead. It was started in 2018 by the father of the fallen Hero of the Russian-Ukrainian war, “cyborg” Oleksiy Durmasenko. Therefore, such a race will be held in Ukraine for the sixth time.
