At the weekend, athletes from the Lviv Region won two gold medals at the European Championships

On Saturday, November 19, in Poland in the finals of the European Championship in modern pentathlon among youth up to 24 years old.

20-year-old Lviv sportsman Yuriy Kovalchuk won the gold medal in individual competitions. In the final, the athlete fought for the award with 17 representatives of other European countries.

Yuriy trains at the Lviv School of Higher Sports Mastery and at the Training and Sports Base for Summer Sports. His mentors are Vitaly Tarnakin, Oleg Fialkovych, Andriy Kovalchuk and Andriy Orlikovskyi.

Meanwhile, 23-year-old Svyatoslav Hasyuk from Stryia won the gold of the WAKO European Kickboxing Championship in the low kick section. This is a full-contact section of kickboxing, in which there is also the possibility of attacking the opponent’s legs with clean kicks.

The athlete trains under the guidance of coach Andrii Shaposhnikov at the Hanuman fight club. This year, Svyatoslav also became the champion of the European Sports Games among students.

The European Kickboxing Championship was held in Turkey. Representatives of more than 40 countries competed for awards here.
