Lviv Swimmers Triumph at Winter Ukrainian Championship
The Winter Ukrainian Junior and Youth Swimming Championship took place in Brovary from February 27 to March 1. Athletes from Lviv, Sofia Lesnyak, Hanna Kulikova, and Oleksandr Lukavetskyi, won three golds, a silver, and a bronze.
Oleksandr Lukavetskyi’s Achievements
- 🥇 1st place in the 1500 m freestyle among youths and 5th among juniors – 16:41.84
- 🥇 1st place in the 400 m freestyle among youths and 4th among juniors – 4:15.08
- 🥈 3rd place in the 5000 m freestyle – 59:40.56

Sofia Lesnyak’s Achievements
- 🥇 1st place in the 800 m freestyle among juniors – 9:09.78

Hanna Kulikova’s Achievements
- 🥈 2nd place in the 200 m butterfly among youths – 2:30.05
➡️ Coach – Liubov Karpa, KDUSSH named after Yuriy Kutenko.
“We are proud that swimmers from Lviv region are winning awards not only at national but also at international competitions. A month ago, at a tournament in Luxembourg, Heorhiy Lukashev won a gold medal in the 400 m individual medley,” recalls Roman Khimyak, head of the Lviv Oblast Military Administration’s Youth and Sports Department.
