On April 12-14, the Ukrainian championship in the individual uphill race and the team championship in the Olympic types of the road cycling program took place.
The athletes raced on the roads of Truskavets, Boryslav, and Skhidnytsia. This is the first national-level road cycling race of the season in Lviv region.
“More than 130 best juniors, juniors, boys and girls from 13 regions of Ukraine competed on distances ranging from 10 to 115 km with steep descents and long ascents, in individual and group races,” said Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
Winners and medalists from Lviv region:
- Andriy Mechnikov – 1st place in the 15 km individual race among boys, 2nd place in the 10 km uphill race among boys;
- Taras Ivanik – 1st place in the 15 km individual race among juniors, 2nd place in the 10 km uphill race among juniors;
- Anastasia Saturova – 1st place in the individual 15 km race among girls; 3rd place in the 10 km uphill race among girls;
- Denys Danyliuk – 1st place, 10 km uphill race among boys;
- Oleh Smolynets – 2nd place in the 15 km individual race among boys;
- Yelyzaveta Dziman – 2nd place in the group race among juniors for 63 km;
- Taras Ivanik – 2nd place in the 110 km group race among juniors.
By the way, among the participants of the cycling race was Pavlo Bal, a world champion in cross-country skiing among athletes with musculoskeletal disorders, a participant of the 2022 Winter Paralympic Games in Beijing. Pavlo is a candidate for participation in the Summer Paralympic Games in cycling to be held in Paris.
