The Start Cup cheerleading competition was held this year for the first time and opened the competitive season in this sport in Ukraine. The event took place on 12 October at the Bosko Arena.
The sporting event was organised by the Nancy Dolls cheerleading club with the support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
More than 500 cheerleaders from different cities of the country took part in the all-Ukrainian tournament: from Lviv and the region, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Kyiv, Rivne, Kamianske.
More than 200 performances, qualified judging teams, parental support, lots of children’s smiles, applause, high-quality music and the host’s hosting of the event created an atmosphere of an unquestionable family holiday.
“We are pleased that in this extremely difficult time for our country, during the period of martial law, we have the opportunity to bring up a new sports generation that will represent Ukraine’s honour on international competition grounds in the future. A low bow to all the defenders of Ukraine, thanks to you our holiday took place in a free and independent Ukraine,” said Anastasia Kosenko, head of the Nancy Dolls club and organiser of the event.
The Start Cup tournament is planned to be held annually and will traditionally open the cheerleading competition season in Ukraine.
“Cheerleading in the Lviv region is developing rapidly, and I am very pleased about that. I would like to remind you that registration for the first stage of a large-scale project among students – “Side by Side All-Ukrainian School Leagues” – is now underway.
This year, teams will compete in seven sports, one of which is cheerleading. So we invite teams to register,” says Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
