Athlete from Lviv region is a silver medallist at the World Mixed Martial Arts Championships

Lviv Region was represented at the World Championships by Roman Avramenko, Igor Pazyuk and Natalia Mazur.

The MMA World Mixed Martial Arts Championships among children, boys and juniors took place on 5-11 August in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates) at the legendary Mubadala Arena and Zayed Sports City.

The participants competed in three age categories: 12-13, 14-15 and 16-17 years old.

The national team of Ukraine was represented by 83 athletes who won 8 gold, 10 silver and 15 bronze medals. Lviv region was represented at the World Championships by three athletes:

Roman Avramenko took 2nd place among athletes aged 12-13 in the 44 kg category. Roman fought five bouts and lost to an athlete from Poland one step short of gold.

Ihor Paziuk competed among athletes aged 16-17. The fighter had three fights but lost to an athlete from Italy.

Natalia Mazur also competed among athletes aged 16-17. In the second match, she lost to a rival from Romania.

“In the team competition, the Ukrainian national team became the strongest in the world, and this is the fourth time in a row that Ukrainians have achieved this result. It’s nice to have a medal from a representative of Lviv Oblast,” says Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department at Lviv Regional State Administration.
