Athlete from Lviv region Veronika Marchenko wins a licence in archery for the Olympic Games in Paris

This was reported by the head of the Lviv Regional Military District Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.

He also said that in Antalya, Turkey, where the final world qualifying tournament is currently taking place, Veronika Marchenko was among the top four in the individual competition and won a ticket to the Olympic Games.

On her way to the licence, Veronika overcame intense battles with rivals from Thailand, Slovenia and Slovakia.

In the final, she met the leader of the qualifiers, a representative of Iran, but lost. In the match for third place, our athlete defeated her rival from Moldova, Alexandra Mirca, 6-4, and thus won bronze medals.

In total, 308 of the world’s best archers (165 men and 143 women) representing 83 countries are taking part in the competition.

“Veronika Marchenko is a representative of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the School of Higher Sportsmanship and the Defence Ministry’s Summer Sports Training Centre. She is coached by Maria Havelko. We thank her and cheer her on!” said Maksym Kozytskyi.
