According to the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Regional Military Administration (LOMA), 125 athletes in 2024 received the title of “Master of Sports of Ukraine.” Additionally, 28 athletes earned the title of “Master of Sports of Ukraine of International Class,” and three were honored as “Honored Masters of Sports of Ukraine.” Seven coaches received the title “Honored Coach of Ukraine.”
Roman Khymyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of LOMA, highlighted a significant increase in the number of international-class athletes in 2024 compared to 2023 (28 versus 19). Furthermore, 754 athletes from the region became candidates for the title of Master of Sports of Ukraine.
Honored Masters of Sports of Ukraine:
- Sviatoslav Hasiuk (kickboxing WAKO).
- Kateryna Yakymets (curling for hearing-impaired athletes).
- Mykhailo Zvarych (futsal).
International-Class Masters of Sports:
The list includes achievements in fishing, kickboxing, boxing, sledding, cycling, and other sports disciplines, with 28 athletes awarded.
Popular Olympic Disciplines:
- Rugby (10 athletes).
- Canoe/kayak rowing (5).
- Fencing, cycling, and freestyle wrestling (4 each).
Non-Olympic Sports:
Most new Masters of Sports appeared in kickboxing (WPKA, ICKA), powerlifting, sambo, and military-sports multi-events.
Athletes with Disabilities:
Two para-arm wrestlers and one hearing-impaired curling athlete received the title.
Honored Coaches in Lviv Region:
Recognized trainers include experts in skiing, cycling, shooting, karate, and combat self-defense.
Since July 1, 2024, new regulations for awarding sports titles are in effect. Athletes can apply through a public registry: title.mms.gov.ua.
