The final of the city school volleyball league took place yesterday in Lviv. These competitions became the largest of all sports – more than 1,300 students took part in them.
In this academic year, competitions in the volleyball school league took place among boys and girls of the 9th grade and younger. In the district stage of the school league in this sport, 67 teams took part among boys, and 44 among girls. During the district stage, more than 240 game meetings were held, which took place in November and December last year in sports halls of secondary schools.
In the city stage, teams from schools that became champions in their districts of the Lviv City Territorial Community take part.
The top three teams among girls were:
1st place – Lyceum No. 46 (Royal vultures);
II place – General Education School No. 34 (Black Panthers);
3rd place – Lyceum No. 70 (Kookabary).
Among the young men, the winners and prize-winners of the league are:
1st place – Lyceum No. 28 (Leopards);
2nd place – secondary school No. 65 (Noble Deer);
3rd place – secondary school No. 1 (Antarctic seals).
As a reminder, the winners of the city stages will receive a pass to the regional stage of the all-Ukrainian project “Side by Side”. In case of victory in the regional stage, they will automatically step further – to the all-Ukrainian stage of the country’s largest student competitions.

Lviv sports school leagues are sports competitions developed in accordance with the world and European experience of such events. The main goal of the project is to create an atmosphere of a sports holiday among schoolchildren of the Lviv urban territorial community, as well as to increase the number of schoolchildren who engage in sports on a permanent basis and lead a healthy lifestyle.
This year, the Lviv Leagues are integrated into the national project “Side by Side All-Ukrainian School Leagues”. Now Lviv schoolchildren, winners of the city stages, will be able to fight for the title of the best in Ukraine. After the completion of the city stages in the Lviv school leagues, the winners will receive a pass to the regional stage. If they win this stage, they automatically advance to the all-Ukrainian stage of the country’s largest student competitions in four sports: basketball, volleyball, futsal and cheerleading.
