A masterclass in Nordic walking was held in Novoyavorivsk

The event was organised by the Lviv Regional Centre for Physical Health “Sport for All” and the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

The event took place at the Oleg Rusin Stadium in Novoyavorivsk and was attended by over 40 participants of all ages. The participants were given a warm-up, taught Nordic walking techniques and even held a competition.

“We were pleasantly surprised that a dozen participants joined the event and came with their own Nordic walking poles. They told us that they had founded their own centre for this sport in Novoyavorivsk. They train, walk and share their experiences together. And at the masterclass, they had the opportunity to improve their technique,” said Iryna Oliynyk, the event organiser.

“Recently, a Nordic walking competition was held as part of the Lviv Oblast Sports Games. They determined the strongest community in three categories: adults, veterans and people with disabilities. This only emphasises that this sport is accessible to everyone, and it is also an effective and enjoyable way to improve your health and well-being. We will also hold Nordic walking workshops in other communities of the region,” said Roman Khimyak, head of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration.
