The Ukrainian women’s team won at the World Chess Olympiad, among them representatives of the Lviv Region

Ukraine was represented by athletes from Lviv Oblast Anna Muzychuk, Maria Muzychuk and Natalya Buksa, Anna Ushenina from Kharkiv and Yulia Osmak from Kyiv

In the final round, Ukraine defeated the Polish team with a score of 3:1. Maria Muzychuk and Anna Ushenina won their games in this round, Anna Muzychuk and Nataliya Buksa drew.

For the gold at the competition, each female chess player of the Lviv Oblast will receive a monetary reward of 50,000 hryvnias as part of the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports of the Lviv Oblast, which is implemented by the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Oblast.

188 men’s and 162 women’s national teams took part in the competition. The Chess Olympiad takes place every two years. The Ukrainian women’s team won first place for the second time in history: for the first time, female chess players triumphed in 2006 in Turin.
