The Ukrainian team, consisting of 35 veterans and servicemen, has departed for Canada to compete in the Invictus Games. Their journey began in Kyiv, with a transfer in Lviv to Krakow, and then via Frankfurt they headed to Canada, where the competition will take place from February 8-16 in the cities of Vancouver and Whistler.
These competitions are important for veterans who have endured the trials of war but found the strength to demonstrate their resilience through sports. The Ukrainian team will compete in various sports, including snowboarding, biathlon, skeleton, wheelchair curling, swimming, rowing, and wheelchair basketball.
Among the Ukrainian representatives in these competitions are Inna Korolenko from Lviv region, a former combat medic, who will compete in skeleton, alpine skiing, and swimming, as well as Yevgen Tyurin, a senior sergeant of the National Guard of Ukraine, who will participate in skeleton, curling, and snowboarding.
The Lviv Regional State Administration shared that many team members actively participated in the Invictus League events, which conduct free master classes and training in various sports for veterans and their families.
