The tournament will be held on October 15-16 in Lviv.
The All-Ukrainian bench press and classic bench press tournament “WEST BENCH PRESS CUP” will be held in Lviv. These are complex competitions covering classic and equipment divisions.
Spectators can expect the performances of champions and prize-winners of international competitions, members of the national team Ivan Chuprinka, Oksana Vedmid, Petro Olar, Maria Polyanska, Andrii Balenkov, Sofia Stanko, Ivan Korol and Maryana Kolyadenko.
The competition is organized by the Lviv Regional Powerlifting Organization in partnership with the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Oblast within the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports of the Lviv Oblast.
According to the head of the regional federation Maria Roztorguy, powerlifting representatives from 12 regions of Ukraine will take part in this year’s tournament: Donetsk, Lviv, Kharkiv, Chernivtsi, Ivano-Frankivsk, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Zhytomyr, Poltava, Rivne and the city of Kyiv. To date, 119 athletes have registered to participate in the tournament, including world and European champions.
The organizers of the competition promise the audience an incredible atmosphere, a flurry of emotions and crazy energy. They note that this is one of the most spectacular competitions on the territory of the western region of Ukraine.
“This event is an important step in the development of powerlifting not only in the Lviv region, but also in Ukraine. This is an opportunity for athletes to demonstrate their results, to compete, to increase their own competitive experience in conditions where the number of all-Ukrainian and regional competitions is significantly limited due to the war,” says the head of the youth and sports department of Lviv OVA Roman Khimyak.
The most titled athlete who will take part in the All-Ukrainian bench press and classic bench press tournament “WEST BENCH PRESS CUP” will be Ukrainian master of sports of international class, world and European champion of 2021-2022, multiple record holder of Ukraine in bench press Oksana Vedmid. Among men, the leader of the competition today is Honored Master of Sports of Ukraine, multiple world and European champion of 2010-2022, world and European record holder Ivan Chuprinko.
Based on the results of the athletes’ performances, the winners and prize-winners in the absolute championship among all weight categories and the winners in the team fight will be determined. Athletes will receive exclusive medals, cups and diplomas, and prize-winners and winners in the absolute first place will also receive valuable gifts from the sponsors of the competition.
The competition will take place in the premises of the !FESTrepublic shelter in Lviv on Staroznesenska Street, 24-26. As a reminder, the WEST CUP as an image competition was first held last year with the support of the Youth and Sports Department of the Lviv Regional State.
