A kayaking trip was organised in Sokal for servicemen and their families

A trip was organised for defenders and their families as part of the Travel Therapy project in cooperation with the Next Step Ukraine rehabilitation centre.

This time they went to the Kayak Tourism Centre in Sokal.

“Today we have the first river rafting within the Travel Therapy project and the fourteenth event in total. By doing so, we want to inspire people to travel and show that recovery and mental relaxation are available to everyone, including people in wheelchairs or with amputations. Outdoor recreation with family and friends helps to improve rehabilitation and socialisation,” says Taras Lozynskyi, Head of Tourism and Resorts at the Lviv Regional Military Administration.

The trip was attended by 33 soldiers, including those in wheelchairs and with prostheses, as well as wives and relatives of the defenders.

The participants had the opportunity to undergo breathing practice and then take part in a kayaking trip on the Western Bug River. In total, the participants covered about 7 kilometres of water. The heat added to the difficulties, as the water level in the river dropped and there was almost no current. Nevertheless, all the servicemen overcame this stretch, enjoyed the flora and fauna of the Western Bug, and saw architectural monuments such as the former Bernardine Monastery and St Nicholas Church.

The trip was organised by the Kayak Tourism Centre and Chervonohrad District Council.

All trips for defenders are free of charge and are funded under the regional targeted tourism development programme. We would like to remind you that “Travel Therapy” is a project of the Tourism and Resorts Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, which provides leisure and emotional relief for Defenders and their families.
