Valeria Bilous-Hridzhak Achieves Success at the World Fencing Cup
The World Junior Women’s Epee Fencing Cup took place on February 15-16 in Beauvais, France. Valeria Bilous-Hridzhak took seventh place in the individual competitions, marking the best result for the 16-year-old fencer at such events.
Results of Valeria Bilous-Hridzhak’s Performances
The athlete first won four out of five bouts in the group stage and then fought four more matches in the knockout stage:
- in the 1/32 round defeated Monica Juanes Carreno from Spain (15:6),
- in the 1/16 round defeated Ukrainian Ustyna Ohon (15:13),
- in the 1/8 round out-fenced the Chinese Peng Yuhan (15:8),
- in the quarter-finals lost to Linnea Eriksson from Sweden (11:15).
“Valeria also competed in the team epee fencing events. Our team finished in sixth place,” noted the head of youth and sports of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, Roman Khimyak.
Valeria Bilous-Hridzhak represents the Kyivan Sports School “Athlete” and is a trainee of the Dynamo Sports Society. She is coached by Zoryana Semeryak and Andriy Orlikovskyi.
