Rowers from Lviv Oblast won two bronze medals at the World Cup stage in Poland

This was announced by the head of Lviv OVA Maksym Kozytskyi.

The Kayaking and Canoeing World Cup stage is underway in Poland. As part of the national team, six athletes from the Lviv region are competing for awards.

Oleksandr Zaitsev became the third in single kayak at a distance of 200 meters. Earlier, the boy trained in the Kherson region. When the full-scale war began, he moved to the Lviv region and continued training at the regional school of higher sportsmanship.

Another “bronze” was won by the men’s four in a canoe at a distance of 500 meters. Vitaliy Vergeles from Lviv covered the distance together with his colleagues from other regions – Andriy Rybachek, Taras Kuzyk and Volodymyr Savchyny.

“Rowing is one of the priority sports for Lviv region. Last year, the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Regional State bought new boats for the top sportsmen of the national team of the region. On the basis of the Specialized Children’s and Youth Sports School “Veslyarik” within the Comprehensive Program for the Development of Physical Culture and Sports of the Lviv Region, a boathouse was built for storing boats. Soon in Dobrotvor we will start the reconstruction of the building of the children’s and youth sports school, which has a powerful rowing section. Funds have been earmarked for this in the regional budget,” the head of the region noted.
