Japanese to return Olympic medal to Lviv karate player Stanislav Goruna, which he bought at auction for 20.5 thousand US dollars

Prominent Lviv karate player Stanislav Goruna has put up for sale his bronze medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo at auction. The medal was sold for $ 20.5 thousand, or almost 600 thousand UAH. The winning bet was made by a buyer from Japan – from the country where Stas won an Olympic medal.

All proceeds will be sent to the Ukraine Alive 2022 fund, which provides targeted assistance to the National Guard, the Armed Forces, the Defense Forces and IDPs.

The man who bought Stanislav’s medal lives in Tokyo. He wished to remain anonymous, but told Tribuna.com Ukraine what he plans to do with the award.

“I do not want Mr. Stanislav to lose his bronze medal from the Olympics. If he does not mind, I would like to invite him to Tokyo after Ukraine restores peace and return the award to him. I hope that Goruna will be able to bring her back. “I don’t want to be a burden to Stanislav during the war. I would be grateful if you would tell him that I will be glad to hear from him when peace comes to Ukraine,” said a Japanese buyer who has supported Ukraine in this way.
