The Department of Ecology has published up-to-date information on the quality of surface water in the basins of the Western Bug and Syan rivers

Monitoring was carried out at 23 approved observation points, namely at 17 sites of the Western Bug sub-basin and 6 sites of the Xiangu sub-basin.

In April, the water resources management of the Western Bug and Syan rivers carried out another monitoring of surface water quality within the Ukrainian part of the Vistula river basin. Monitoring was carried out at 23 approved observation points, namely at 17 sites of the Western Bug sub-basin and 6 sites of the Xiangu sub-basin.

Water quality analyzes included the determination of physicochemical and chemical indicators of water quality (including the content of organic and biogenic substances, pesticides, heavy metals, polyaromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons, alkylphenols, trichlorobenzenes, medicines).

According to the state monitoring program, within the Ukrainian part of the Vistula river basin, there are 8 monitoring points on cross-border areas and one site – at the place of drinking water intake.

In April, the lowest water quality was found:

in the Poltva River – by the content of dissolved oxygen, organic, biogenic substances, SPAR, halogenated hydrocarbons, pesticides, etc.;
in the Western Bug River below the mouth of the Poltva River – by the content of organic and biogenic substances;
in the Maruntsi River below the town of Vinnyki – in terms of the content of organic and biogenic substances;
in the river Svyni below the city of Zhovkva – in terms of the content of organic and biogenic substances.

Compared to the previous reporting period (March 2023), water quality improved in the Poltva River (Kamyanopil village), Malekhivtsi River (Malekhiv village), Vyshny River (Cherneve village) and in the “R. Western Bug – village. Zabuzhja”. Water quality has deteriorated in the observation points “c. Stary Dobrotvir”, “p. Ambukiv”, “p. Ustylug” on the Zahidny Bug River, as well as in the Kiysky Stream (Nestanychi village), in the Rat River (Mezhiryechye village) and in the Shklo River (Krakowets village).

Water quality in other bodies has not changed significantly.

It should be noted that the monitoring of the quality of surface waters of the Lviv region is carried out by the Basin Management of Water Resources of the Western Bug and Syan Rivers on a monthly basis. It is an integral part of the state environmental monitoring system.

We will also remind you that the EcoZagroza website offers a free service – monitoring and ecological assessment of water resources based on chemical indicators, which displays information on the assessment of water at certain observation points.
