German volunteers have brought another consignment of humanitarian aid and are providing shelter to Ukrainians
Ivan Sobko, Deputy Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, met today with representatives of the Lemberg wir kommen volunteer initiative at the Military Support Office in Lviv.
It includes, in particular, incumbent Bundestag member Matthias Hauer, as well as business representatives from North Rhine-Westphalia (a federal state based in Düsseldorf).
The meeting was attended by the head of the humanitarian headquarters at the Lviv Palace of Arts Yuriy Viznyak.
During the war, German partners donated a total of 4 million euros to humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This time they personally accompany 40 tons of humanitarian cargo for Ukrainians. Returning back to Germany, they will take temporary accommodation for Ukrainians who are forced to flee combat zones.
During the meeting, Ivan Sobko thanked the representatives of the volunteer initiative “Lemberg wir kommen” for supporting Ukrainians in their fight against the Russian aggressor and handed them thanks to the regional state administration.
“Your help is extremely important to us. Hundreds of people come to the regional humanitarian headquarters every day in need of help that cannot be expressed in monetary terms. They also need someone to hear and listen to them. I am very grateful to you for your desire to help us in this important and at the same time difficult period for our state and our people, “Ivan Sobko stressed.
He stressed that the modern history of the development of civilized society today is created by Ukrainians.
“It is important that today we are supported by European countries. We have good news that the Council of Europe has endorsed the position that Ukraine will be an associate member. Finally, we see a clear position of the European Union, in particular Germany, France, Italy and others. They understand that the Russian aggressor is doing evil. We are very much looking forward to our Victory Day over this fierce enemy and we believe that it will be very soon, “Ivan Sobko added.
Another area of work for these volunteers is the refuge of Ukrainian citizens in Germany. Thus, returning home, they will take on temporary accommodation Ukrainians who are forced to flee combat zones.
In total, more than 500 of our citizens have already been sheltered. All Ukrainians who were forced to flee the war receive the necessary assistance from a team of volunteers – to solve household, social and organizational issues.
“We admire how friendly the Ukrainians are and how courageously you stand against Russia. We will continue to help you win quickly, “said Roger Shim, a spokesman for Lemberg wir kommen.
