On St. Nicholas Day, 17-year-old Maxim received the most valuable gift: a chance for a fulfilling life. After all, specialists of the First Medical Association of Lviv transplanted his kidney. The organ was given to the boy by his mother.
“It is symbolic that Maxim was operated on exactly on St. Nicholas’ Day – the day when miracles happen. The boy hopes that he will recover very quickly, enter a medical university and become a surgeon,” the First TMO of Lviv notes.
By the way, recently the doctors of the First Medical Association transplanted nine organs in more than a day: two hearts, a liver and six kidneys. All operations were performed from posthumous donors.
