Service navigator for veterans presented in Lviv region

On 19 June, a regional forum for representatives of the communities of Lviv Oblast was held in Lviv at the Ukrainian Catholic University

A tool for veterans to navigate the community was presented at the event. The Service Navigator will allow veterans to learn about the available services and opportunities that the state and community can provide them. The navigator was developed and presented by the human rights centre for servicemen “Principle”.

The organisation noted that it is important for veterans to find out the information they need locally – where they live, receive treatment, and receive payments.

“The role of the community in the comfortable return of veterans to civilian life is key. After returning from service, they will seek services where they were comfortable before the service. That is, to the same ASCs, hospitals, clinics, and Pension Fund offices. We have added information to the navigator about key environments where veterans may need help,” said Masi Nayem, a serviceman and co-founder of Principle.

The Service Navigator includes diagrams and guides to help you find out about services in different types of communities – rural, urban, settlement, city, and regional centres. For example, you can find out where and how to apply for statuses, pensions, benefits, payments, social services, where to go when looking for a job or for free legal advice.

Principle said that the navigator is an initial support in the form of knowledge of what kind of help veterans can get and where they can get it. Next, it is up to the communities to ensure that veterans receive these services in a quality and dignified manner.

“Veterans are a very valuable community. It is our duty to help them adapt as quickly as possible after returning from the war and find themselves in areas where they will be active participants in community life,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, at the event.
