Ihor Yukhnovskyi, the first Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, passed away at the age of 99. It became known on March 26. Today, March 28, a farewell ceremony for the Hero of Ukraine took place in Lviv.
The farewell ceremony took place in the Holy Intercession Cathedral of the OCU. Hundreds of residents of Lviv Oblast, those who knew and shared his values, came to see Igor Yukhnovsky on his last journey.
Ihor Rafailovich was buried in the family tomb at the Lychakiv cemetery. During the public meeting, the head of the region, Maksym Kozytskyi, read an address on behalf of the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, with condolences to the family and friends of Ihor Yukhnovskyi.
“Don’t say what’s bad, but tell how to do better,” is the principle by which Ihor Yukhnovsky lived and worked, and which he taught hundreds of his students. Today, Igor Rafailovich was sent on his last journey. On behalf of the President of Ukraine, as well as on behalf of the entire Lviv region, he expressed his condolences to the relatives of the academician, his relatives and followers. Ihor Rafailovich is already in a better world, but his wisdom, equanimity and faith in a strong, independent and educated Ukraine are with us forever. May the memory of a bright person be bright,” Maksym Kozytskyi, the head of the Lviv OVA, noted in his social networks.
Ihor Yukhnovskyi is the first head of the Ukrainian Institute of National Remembrance, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, front-line soldier of the Second World War, theoretical physicist, scientist and politician.
It is he who came up with the idea of the referendum on December 1, 1991, which established the independence of our country. It was thanks to Ihor Rafailovich that in 2006 the Law “On the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine” was adopted, and the Holodomor Memorial was built in Kyiv.
For significant personal contributions to the development and development of our country, Mr. Ihor was awarded the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise three times.
“Ukraine has survived for thousands of years without attacking anyone, falling under one, two, and three occupations and remaining Ukrainian, with its own language, no matter how much they tried to destroy it. There were a lot of conquerors. Our willingness to feed, let us spend the night, the power of our song is our strong weapon. We are not a simple people, we are a people that has its own strength.
