State of Rivers in Lviv Region: Slight Decrease in Water Levels and Weakening of Ice Phenomena
Overview of the hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv region as of 08:00 on March 5, 2025:
Most rivers in the region observed a slight decrease in water levels by 1 – 3 cm, with only a few rivers experiencing a rise in water levels by 1 – 10 cm over a day.
On sections of rivers with ice cover, there was a continued gradual weakening of ice phenomena, with ice drift observed (Dniester River – Strelky village), and in some places, rivers were cleared of ice. In the mountainous tributaries of the Dniester, ice cover remains incomplete with ice thickness of 5 – 9 cm.
The water temperature in the mountainous tributaries of the Dniester was 0.0 – 0.8°, while in the rest of the region’s rivers it was 1.7 – 4.6°.

The next day, a slight decrease in water levels will continue on the region’s rivers. Due to thawing, further weakening of ice phenomena and local destruction will continue on some mountainous tributaries of the Dniester.
