Analysis of the Hydrological Situation in Lviv Region: Rising Water Levels
Overview of the hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv region as of 8:00 AM on March 16, 2025:
According to the hydrological network data, 3 – 14 mm of precipitation fell across the Lviv region, with localized amounts reaching 15 – 23 mm in a day.
Due to the precipitation, water levels on the Dniester basin rivers continued to rise by 2 – 28 cm, with levels in the area of HPP Styy – Stryi city rising up to 0.5 m per day. On the plain rivers of the Sian and Western Bug basins, water levels rose by up to 10 cm per day.
Water temperature on the mountain tributaries of the Dniester ranged from 0.2 – 3.2°, and on other rivers in the region – from 2.0 – 9.2°.

In the next day, the Dniester basin rivers will experience water level fluctuations with a tendency to rise, with increases of 0.3 – 0.7 m expected only in the middle and lower reaches of the Stryi, Svycha, and in the Dniester near the HPP Zhuravno (a hydrological situation change warning Gk-5 from 14.03.2025 is in effect). On the plain rivers of the Sian and Western Bug basins, gradual water level rises will continue.
