Summer kitchen burning in Yavoriv district: 75-year-old owner injured in fire

On 17 November at 21:40, a fire was reported in the village of Steni, Yavoriv district. A one-storey brick summer kitchen was on fire.

When the firefighters arrived at the scene, fire was coming out of the windows of the building. The flames were rapidly spreading through the wooden structures of the summer kitchen. There was a threat of the fire spreading to the nearby garage.

The rescuers donned special respiratory and visual protection equipment and began to extinguish the fire.

As it turned out, at the time of the fire, the 75-year-old owner was inside the summer kitchen. Fortunately, the man was able to leave the dangerous building on his own. However, the elderly man suffered burns to his forehead, dislocated his shoulder and showed signs of combustion product poisoning. After being examined by doctors and provided with medical care on the spot, the victim refused to be hospitalised.

At 22:12, firefighters localised the fire and eliminated it at 22:45. The fire destroyed household items in the middle of the summer kitchen and damaged the building.

Eight firefighters and two units of special equipment were engaged to extinguish the fire. The circumstances of the incident and the cause of the fire are being established by specialists.
