Stryyanka Larisa Borshch is one of the women who passed the selection for the unified assault brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Lyut”. In peaceful life, Larisa worked as a personnel manager, but she understood from the first days of the war that she would not be able to sit idly by from now on.
“Since childhood, I dreamed of being a soldier. But the circumstances were such that it was not possible to realize this dream. But when the full-scale invasion began, I decided that I should be the most useful to the state in these difficult times,” the volunteer says.
That’s how Larisa found herself in a voluntary formation in Strya. Together with the police, she patrolled the streets, received appropriate training, learned how to handle weapons, and also took courses in tactical emergency medical aid.
“Once the instructor told that the Lviv Oblast police had started recruiting for the “Lyut” brigade, the purpose of which is to repulse and deter the enemy. And I immediately understood – this is my chance, for which I have been waiting all my life!”, – says the woman.
Larisa submitted the necessary documents, successfully passed the selection, and is now preparing for training, after which she will begin to perform the assigned tasks together with other soldiers.
“My main motivation is like that of all Ukrainians today: to make sure that this evil does not roam our land. I really love my family, my home, my garden. And I will defend it!” she says.
Larisa’s family – a 26-year-old daughter and a husband who is a military medic himself – supported her decision. “It’s a little more difficult with my mother, but I’m stubborn and persistent, I know how to convince,” the volunteer smiles.
We will remind that the united assault brigade of the National Police of Ukraine “Lyut” is a paramilitary unit of the Special Purpose Police Department of a new model, designed to repel and deter armed aggression against Ukraine. The “Lyut” brigade consists of two assault regiments, a special purpose battalion, an artillery regiment and a special operations company. Their arsenal includes armored vehicles (BMP, APC, KOZAK), artillery, anti-aircraft, anti-tank and sniper weapons.
The formation of the brigade will continue until April 1. Volunteers who want to join can submit an application on the website storm.mvs.gov.ua or through the Centers for the provision of administrative services.
Next, the candidate must pass a military medical board, pass psychological and physical tests, pass tests on knowledge of legislation and logical thinking. After successfully passing the test, he will undergo several months of training. Upon completion of high-quality training, the fighters begin to perform the assigned tasks – the destruction of the enemy.
