Three defenders from Stryshchyna were awarded state awards posthumously

Awards were presented to families of servicemen.

Today, December 29, a meeting with the families of fallen defenders of Ukraine took place in Stryiska RVA. In accordance with the Presidential Decree of September 1, 2023, three military personnel were awarded (posthumously) the III degree “For Courage” orders.

For personal courage and selfless actions, shown in the defense of state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, the following were awarded:

1. Defender Yuriy Hyryak. The man lived in Strya. During the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the Teroborona in Strya. He became a soldier of the 65th battalion of the 103rd separate territorial defense brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Died on November 14, 2022 (exploded by a mine) near the village of Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region.

The soldier is survived by his mother, brother, wife, son and daughter. The award was presented by Hero’s mother.

2. Defender Andrii Rybak. The man lived in Stryi. He is a lawyer by profession. With the beginning of a full-scale invasion, he voluntarily joined the ranks of the Stryi Teroborona. During the war, he was the commander of a rifle platoon. He died after being blown up by a mine. Andrii Rybak was 30 years old.

Three small children were left without a father. The award was presented to the defender’s wife and children.

3. Ivan Shimkov’s defender. He was born in the village of Girne, in recent years he lived in Stryi. The soldier voluntarily joined the ranks of the Stryi Teroborona. During the war, he was a rifleman of a rifle division. Died on October 13 while performing official duty in Luhansk Region. The soldier was 34 years old.

Ivan Shimkov has two daughters. The award was presented to the wife.
