New boats, bikes and tatami allow athletes to train more efficiently and compete more effectively.
For the 10 national teams of the Lviv Oblast, which represent the region at all-Ukrainian competitions and successfully perform as part of the national team at international tournaments, the Department of Youth and Sports of the Lviv Oblast purchased new sports equipment. Improving the material and technical base of the team of the region is one of the priorities of the Comprehensive program for the development of physical culture of the Lviv region.
“In most successful European countries, there are clearly formulated goals for financing sports, because these are taxpayers’ funds. The main goal is to provide the highest possible number of people with the highest possible quality and variety of sports services and to promote effective coordination and distribution of limited resources. Today, the indicator of resource and financial “hunger” is, for obvious reasons, one of the highest in the history of modern Ukraine. Therefore, we decided that all our projects, programs, events should be as close as possible to the end user, according to the principle of “conditions for the athlete”. If the equipment is for the better. If the stadium is in the community where there are already established traditions and a real need. If the financial support is for a specific coach or athlete with the best achievements. Now we are investing in something that is an urgent need and will definitely have a result,” explains the head of the youth and sports department of Lviv OVA Roman Khim’yak.
In particular, 4 new boats were purchased for the rowing team of the Lviv Region. The world and European champion Vitaliy Vergeles, the world champion among youth under 23 Vasyl Smilka, the bronze medalist of the European championship among juniors and youth under 23 Valeriya Tereta, and the silver and bronze medalist of the world championships in kayaking and canoeing among juniors and youth Hrystyna Osipchuk.
Four bicycles were purchased for the national cycling team. These are track and road bicycles for athletes of the Lviv Regional Children’s and Youth Sports School, graduates of the Drohobych SDYUSHOR “Medic”, who are currently training at the Lviv Regional School of Higher Sports Excellence.
For four sports pistols, the leading manufacturer of sports weapons “PARDINI” now has more collective shooting team. World champion Yuliya Korostylova, European champion Anastasia Nimets, European champion Volodymyr Pasternak and European champion Hleb Kigitov will shoot from them.
For the national archery team, 4 American-made “HOYT” grips were purchased, as well as other accessories for accurate shooting. They will be used by Ukrainian international master of sports Varvara Ilyash and Ukrainian masters of sports Dzvenislava Chernyk, Oleksandr Boyko, and Oleksandr Pantsyru.
3 new tables were purchased for the national team of armwrestlers, which always ranks among the top three at national trainings and competitions. For the national kyokushinkai karate and kickboxing team, 2 sets of tatami mats were purchased, on which, in addition to training, the regional federations will also hold competitions, and traditionally, the number of participants in these sports is the largest among all federations in combat sports. A special purpose bicycle “HandBike” was purchased for a member of the national Paralympic national team of Ukraine, two-time world champion Pavlo Bal.
A timing system for the national orienteering team and an electronic scoreboard for game sports were also purchased. The best-ranked female artistic gymnasts of Lviv Oblast received new sets of competition and training equipment.
